Pumpkins and Copper
Fall is such an incredible season here in New Hampshire. Summer has come to an end, the air is crisp and fresh, the sky is brilliant blue and the colors of the trees are intense. Each year a different color of the trees seems to fascinate me, one year I’m drawn to the incredible reds, the next it’s the yellows. In fact, sometimes it seems that when the sun shines on them all day by evening they are luminous as they glow from within. After a summer of the fullness of lush greens and soft breezes, the season closes with God’s firework of color. With that color comes bus loads of tourists desiring to see all that we have to offer from our little corner of the world.
Every Fall I have to paint something that involves pumpkins, gourds or apples. I can’t look at these colors all around me and not be inspired to paint in them, and this year was no exception. I put together this little still life with some artificial decorations and a copper pitcher. I fell in love with the copper pitcher that I found at a Yard Sale (yard sales - another good thing about Fall). The painting is 8 x 10 and although I signed it, I don’t think I am finished with it. I may need to put it back on the easel and continue to work on it at some point. Happy Fall!
