I once heard that turquoise is a universal color that looks good on everyone. I wonder if that means it also looks good in everyone’s decor. Are the colors in this still life considered turquoise or blue? No matter what, I love the color and the brightness it brings to the dark space. I’m a coffee lover and creating this nostalgic painting made me happy. Percolated coffee in an enamel pot, a ball jar that keeps the sugar fresh and of course the cup to enjoy it from. When I set this up I focused the light from the left so that the right side would disappear into the dark and I would get some great shine areas. I’m happy with the contrast that was achieved.
