Artist Statement: Although I attended Art School, it is years of experience that have taught me the most; to accept my own style, not to depend on others for validation, to create for the sake of creating, and to share freely what I have learned.
I have developed a technique in my painting for building several thin layers with acrylics that brings the viewer to an appearance of realism but not quite photo-realism or hyper-realism. There is order and meticulousness to my work because I’m fascinated with detail. I truly enjoy creating art that first attracts the viewer with familiar, relatable objects and scenarios. But once drawn in, the viewer becomes engaged in the conversation of color, subject and skill as the feeling of sentiment lingers.
